Ipsy Bag Review – May 2017

Hi everyone! It’s been so long since I’ve blogged that everything looks completely different and I don’t know what I’m doing! ūüėČ

After a very long hiatus from subscribing to Ipsy, I decided to renew my subscription. Having extremely sensitive eyes can be a bummer when it comes to makeup bag subscriptions since they generally include at least one product for eyes. I’m not sure if Ipsy has upped their game or if I was just lucky this month, but I didn’t get one eye product and I was extremely happy with the contents of my bag!

Let’s dive in!

Ipsy May 2017 Contents

First of all, the bag is adorable. The theme this month is Summer Friday and the picks are supposed to “help make all your warm weather dreams come true”. I love the ice cream and popsicle print. Now let’s get into the contents!

Urban Decay Afterglow in Sin¬†– I am all about highlighters lately, and I think I will end up getting the full size of this product once I’m done with the sample. It’s lightweight and I love the champagne color. It’s really sparkly and glowy without being over the top.

Adesse New York¬†Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Surfer Girl – I haven’t painted my nails with this yet, but right off the bat I like that it is vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic. I normally wear pretty dark nail polish in the fall and winter months, but this pastel blue shade is a nice contrast for the summer months.

Ipsy May 2017 Nail Polish

tr√®StiQue¬†Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Tuscan Wine – This is the only product I was hesitant about from this month’s bag because I remember getting the same product in a different shade awhile back when I was subscribed and I did not like it at all. I don’t know if I just got a dud last time, but I really like this lip crayon. It feels moisturizing and smooth, but is matte. The wine shade seems a bit more fall/winter for me, but definitely something I will be using a lot because I love a good wine-colored lip.

Hey Honey¬†B√©same Mucho – I think this might be my new favorite lip product. I don’t get super chapped lips, but they definitely get dry and I’ve been having a hard time finding the perfect solution. This lip balm is light, creamy, and super hydrating. It doesn’t feel sticky or gloppy, which I really appreciate.

Ipsy May 2017 Lip Balm

Luxie Beauty¬†Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 – Is it bad that most of the brushes I own I’ve gotten from makeup subscription bags? Probably, but I think it’s a nice way to build up a collection. I started out applying my foundation with a brush and have since moved to a beauty blender, but I’m happy to have this on hand to give a try. It seems like it is a nice quality and feels really soft.

Beauteque BB Bag October 2015 Review

I received my October Beauteque Monthly BB Bag, so it’s time for another unboxing and review!

October Beauteque

SNP Cactus 90% Soothing Gel – The packaging of this caught my eye right away, it’s in a funky green bottle with a little picture of a cactus¬†peeking through. This product is supposed to hydrate, soothe, and firm skin and you “apply to face and body where skin is dry and sensitive”. It has a light aloe scent, and the gel is cooling and blends into the skin nicely without leaving a sticky residue.

October Beauteque FaceBody

Secret Key Glam Romance Perfume Body Lotion – I received “Glam No. 1”. I do like that this isn’t a heavy or greasy lotion, but it has a strong perfumey scent, so unfortunately it’s not for me.

Happy Bath Facial Yogurt Foam Cleanser – I received the grain essence version of this product, which is supposed to be gentle for sensitive skin. I haven’t used this product for a long time so I don’t know how it affects my skin, but so far I really like the formula and my face feels soft after using it. It’s a lot thicker than other cleansers I’ve used in the past and it lathers nicely. It smells like baby powder, but the scent isn’t overpowering.

October Beauteque Brush

Beauteque Contour Brush – I love the colors of this, it’s definitely one of the prettiest brushes I own. Although it’s not a luxury brush, it’s pretty decent quality and I’m always happy to try out new brushes.

October Beauteque Lipstick

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Easy Looks Soft Lipstick – I got shade 02. I wasn’t quite sure if I’d like this color because it looks so bright, but it’s a lot more muted when applied. You can build the color to have it more sheer or opaque, depending on your preference. It’s very moisturizing and smells like fruit to me (maybe mango?). I see myself getting more use of this during spring and summer because I gravitate towards a darker, bold lip in the fall and winter, but the formula is good and I’ll happily add this to my lipstick collection.

October Beauteque Swatch

October Beauteque Mask

AngelLooka Hand Mask – One thing I’ve always enjoyed about the BB Bag is all the different mask types I’ve been able to try since subscribing. I’d never heard of a hand mask before, but since the weather is cold now it’s a perfect time to use one. I got the warming variety, which really worked. It warmed my hands to a very nice temperature – not too hot, but definitely pretty warm. The warmness lingered after taking the mask off, which I appreciated because I’ve been cold all day. Any dry patches that I had were silky smooth after use.

Ipsy Bag Review – October 2015

My Ipsy bag came super early this month! I didn’t even get my tracking¬†email, but¬†it showed up in my mailbox in its pretty pink envelope as a nice surprise the other day. This month’s theme is “Alter Ego”. I don’t think the products particularly fit the theme this month, but it’s fun nonetheless.

October Ipsy Bag

Dr. Brandt Skincare Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant – Ipsy seems to have this brand frequently, but I have yet to use any of the products. I don’t like to change up my skincare routine too much, so this is probably a no-go for me.

Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance-Free Hand and Body Lotion – I don’t particularly seek out vegan products, but I am always happy to use them. Maybe I should make the switch someday. Anyway, lotion is always needed and appreciated, so I will definitely make use of this.

October Ipsy

The bag design was fun, as usual! I have so many of these bags saved up because they’re too cute to part with, but I don’t know how to utilize them better.

October Ipsy collage

Skone Cosmetics Pretty Eyes Eyeliner in Plum – It’s a pretty color, but it swatched a bit streaky/clumpy, so not totally sold on this.

theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed – The scent threw me off at first (vanilla-mint) but it’s grown on me. I thought this was a lip gloss when I first got it, but (as the name states) it’s a liquid lipstick. The pigmentation is great and I like the matte finish.

DOSE Color Pill Nail Polish in Stormy – I love the color, especially for fall. It’s a gorgeous gray-violet. It’s 5-free, which is always a plus in my book when buying nail polishes. The only negative I have to say that although the¬†bottle is cute (supposed to look like a pill to give a “dose of saturated color”) it doesn’t stand up, which makes it awkward to store and apply.

Ipsy Bag Review – September 2015

It’s time for another Ipsy bag review!

September Ipsy Bag

This month’s theme was Face Fashion, and it¬†came in¬†a very luxe looking gold bag with a fun texture.

September Ipsy Skincare

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – This has a light pleasant scent and the directions say to “apply as needed from head to toe throughout the day”. With the weather getting colder, my hands have been very dry lately, so this is perfect.

Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser – I’ve gotten this in either a Birchbox or Ipsy bag before. I don’t like changing up my skincare routine too much since my skin is pretty sensitive, but I always keep these on hand just in case.

September Ipsy NYX

NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio – If you’ve read my blog before, you know how much I love NYX.

September Ipsy NYX Palette

The sandy color and the brown are shimmery, the black color is matte. The packaging is adorable, as always.

September Ipsy NYX Swatches

I think the colors are pretty, though the black one was a bit streaky and didn’t go on as smoothly as the other two.

September Ipsy Nails

Formula X Nail Color in Ignite – The shade is a deep burgundy and I think it’s perfect for fall. I applied it last night and despite doing a ton of housework and typing, it hasn’t chipped.

September Ipsy Lips

Tre’stique Mini Matte Lip Crayon – Maybe I just got a bad one, but this product did not impress me. It had a very strange taste and scent and it felt really drying.¬†The color, as you can see, is not flattering on me at all.

Beauteque Monthly August 2015 BB Bag Review

My Beauteque Monthly BB Bag arrived recently, so it’s time for another review and look into the bag. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Beauteque Monthly BB Bag, it’s a beauty subscription with Korean beauty products and skincare. It costs $24/month (plus shipping).

Beauteque August

I’m always so excited for this subscription to arrive every month, because all of the products I’ve tried so far have been awesome and it’s fun to discover new brands and products.

Beauteque August Bag

As always, the bag is so cute. I love the color and the bow, but I was a little disappointed that the product information card that comes with it was stuck onto the bag and some of the ink transferred over so there’s splotches of various colors on the bag. I hope I can get it off, because this bag is too cute not to use.

Beauteque August Face

Hanaka V-Line Chin Patch – This is supposed to firm the skin and encourage a v-line shape of the chin. The scent is floral and pleasant, and I’ve never tried a chin patch before so it was fun to try and felt surprisingly nice to have on. I don’t know if it was my mind just being hopeful, but my skin did seem more firm and my chin more angular after using it. I’d happily use this product again.

Hanaka Black Rose Acne Fighting Mask – This mask is designed to re-balance oiliness, exfoliate, and “absorb impurities”. The consistency was thicker and stickier than most other masks I’ve used. My pores looked smaller and my skin a bit more bright after washing this mask off.

Beauteque August Products

Palis Facial Oil Blotting Paper – Pretty standard, but it definitely does its job and the packaging is adorable, of course.

Mizon All-In-One Snail Repair Cream – I haven’t been able to use this long enough yet to form an in-depth opinion, but it’s supposed to reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, and blemishes. I’ve heard people claim it’s a miracle product, so I’m excited to see how well it works for me. I might do a more in-depth review of it later to see if it’s made my skin beautiful. ūüėČ I do like that it’s very light and doesn’t have much of a¬†fragrance, and my skin felt really soft after using it.

Beauteque August Masks

Pure Derm Hair Mask in Chamomile – This is supposed to reduce damage and frizz, and my curly hair definitely gets frizzy, so I look forward to using this. You apply it after shampooing, and then rinse after 5-15 minutes.

Pure Derm Clean and Fresh Peeling Gel – I haven’t used this product yet either, but it’s a deep cleaning and exfoliating mask. It has apple, lemon, and orange extract which sounds refreshing.

Beauteque August collage

The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer – This covers well and blends nicely into my skin tone.

Holika Holika Wonder Drawing No Smudge Liquid Eyeliner – Easy to use, and stays put once it’s applied.

August 2015 Ipsy Bag Review

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the month… time to review the Ipsy bag! ūüėČ Apparently if you sign up soon, there’s no waitlist, so it’s a perfect time to try it out if you’re interested.

This month’s theme was “prep school” and the bag is super cute again. I love the houndstooth pattern.

Ipsy August 2015

Marsk Pro Line Eyeshadow Brush – Seems to do its job just fine. Nothing super spectacular about it, but it’s a decent quality brush.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen – Goes on well with its felt tip and doesn’t budge easily.

Lord & Berry Ultimate Lip Liner in Nude – It’s soft and applies nicely. I do prefer my clear lip liner, but this is a great backup.

Hikari Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Salsa¬†– This is probably my favorite item in this month’s bag. I’m not a huge gloss wearer, but this one is not sticky and it stays on a long time. I love the color.

Ipsy August Contents

Here are swatches of the products:

Ipsy August Swatches

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizer ¬†This is a blow dry spray, and I literally never blow dry my hair so I haven’t tried it.¬†Curly hair and blow dryers do not mix, unless I want to spend the next five hours straightening it too.¬†It smells nice, however. ūüėČ

July 2015 Ipsy Bag Review

I’m back and recharged after a bit of an unplanned hiatus! What better way to jump into posting again than with a review of this month’s Ipsy bag? The theme for this month is Summer Lovin’.

July Ipsy Bag

I must say that this is the only month so far that I haven’t been super excited about my bag, but one less than awesome bag in all the months I’ve been subscribed really isn’t that big of a deal.

July Ipsy Contents

Aurora Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in 4 Alarm Fire – I’m not a super huge fan of the color, but it applies nice and even and I do like the shiny, sturdy gel effect it has.

PŇęr~lisse¬†Pur-bright Ultra Skin Brightening Serum – I’ve received many PŇęr~lisse items in my Ipsy bags and I’ve always been happy with the quality of the products, and this one is no exception. It claims to “strengthen skin¬†against future damage, while safely decreasing melanin production for fewer age spots.”

Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo – I was very impressed by this product. I always appreciate a good dry shampoo since¬†my curly hair does not like to be over-washed and stripped of its natural oils. This is a perfect product for between washes. It smells amazing and doesn’t leave any white residue.

July Ipsy Collage

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner – It glides on smoothly, but I don’t love the color and probably won’t end up using it much.

Crown Brush Professional Tweezers – I wasn’t really in need of new tweezers, but the color is adorable so I can’t complain too much. ūüėČ
