BeautynetKorea Haul

Hi everyone and happy new year! I started a new job this month so posts have been a little less frequent and I haven’t been reading as much. I hope to get back on track and dive into some books and manga that are in my TBR stack soon.

This post is a little different, but today I received a package of beauty products from BeautynetKorea that I treated myself to with a little bit of my Christmas money. I’ve been interested in Asian beauty products and skincare routines for awhile now, so it was fun to pick up a few products to try them out.

First I just want to say what a pleasant experience I had shopping at BeautynetKorea. I could spend hours on their site; they have so many interesting products to look at. The shipping was super quick. I received my order 10 days after it shipped (and it shipped 2 days after I placed the order). They were also very generous with the free samples!

Here are the products I ordered:

HOLIKA HOLIKA Gudetama LAZY & EASY All Kill Cleanser Oil To Foam – I haven’t ever tried an oil cleanser or an oil to foam cleanser, but I’m really interested to test this out. I don’t know if it’s more of a gimmick like shampoo and conditioner combos, but I hope it does its job properly. The fact that Gudetama is on it made it too cute to pass up. Seriously, I can’t get over how adorable the Holika Holika x Gudetama Lazy & Easy collection is. I need it all!

SAINT PEAU Eco-Friendly Snail Sun Cream (SPF50+/PA+++) – I wasn’t exactly sure where to begin with picking out a sun cream, but this was listed as one of the top sellers, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong there. It’s supposed to have anti-aging properties, which is probably something I should care more about since I’m closer to 30 than 20 now!

SECRET KEY 2015 New Snail Repairing Emulsion – I’ve been a big believer in products with snail extract ever since receiving some in a Beauteque BB Bag ages ago. It really seemed to help brighten my skin. This product is supposed to moisturize and brighten skin. I know that snail mucus or snail extract might sound weird to people, but I really do think it’s a miracle product. I’m really looking forward to trying this out.

Here are the samples I received:

TONYMOLY Panda’s Dream White Hand Cream – I have TONYMOLY peach hand cream and I love it, so I’m sure I will like this.

TONYMOLY Jeju Snail Essence – Is it bad that I hope I don’t like this because it sells for about $40? I’m sure it will be amazing, though!

TONYMOLY The Black Tea London Classic Serum – This is an anti-wrinkle and whitening serum.

TONYMOLY The Hayan Cherry Blossom Whitening Cream (x2) – This has cherry blossom extract, and I’m a sucker for anything cherry blossom-related, so I’m happy!

TONYMOLY Regencia Homme Multi Fluid – I couldn’t find this for sale on their website, so I just linked to TONYMOLY’s site. I had no idea what a multi fluid was, but it’s supposed to make skin relaxed, moisturized, silky, and elastic. That’s a lot of features. I wonder if it lives up to its promise.

Do you buy any Asian skincare or beauty products? What are some of your favorites? Please feel free to leave me suggestions because this is new-ish territory for me and I’m excited to learn more.

2015 Holiday Gift Guide For Her

Beauteque BB Bag October 2015 Review

I received my October Beauteque Monthly BB Bag, so it’s time for another unboxing and review!

October Beauteque

SNP Cactus 90% Soothing Gel – The packaging of this caught my eye right away, it’s in a funky green bottle with a little picture of a cactus peeking through. This product is supposed to hydrate, soothe, and firm skin and you “apply to face and body where skin is dry and sensitive”. It has a light aloe scent, and the gel is cooling and blends into the skin nicely without leaving a sticky residue.

October Beauteque FaceBody

Secret Key Glam Romance Perfume Body Lotion – I received “Glam No. 1”. I do like that this isn’t a heavy or greasy lotion, but it has a strong perfumey scent, so unfortunately it’s not for me.

Happy Bath Facial Yogurt Foam Cleanser – I received the grain essence version of this product, which is supposed to be gentle for sensitive skin. I haven’t used this product for a long time so I don’t know how it affects my skin, but so far I really like the formula and my face feels soft after using it. It’s a lot thicker than other cleansers I’ve used in the past and it lathers nicely. It smells like baby powder, but the scent isn’t overpowering.

October Beauteque Brush

Beauteque Contour Brush – I love the colors of this, it’s definitely one of the prettiest brushes I own. Although it’s not a luxury brush, it’s pretty decent quality and I’m always happy to try out new brushes.

October Beauteque Lipstick

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Easy Looks Soft Lipstick – I got shade 02. I wasn’t quite sure if I’d like this color because it looks so bright, but it’s a lot more muted when applied. You can build the color to have it more sheer or opaque, depending on your preference. It’s very moisturizing and smells like fruit to me (maybe mango?). I see myself getting more use of this during spring and summer because I gravitate towards a darker, bold lip in the fall and winter, but the formula is good and I’ll happily add this to my lipstick collection.

October Beauteque Swatch

October Beauteque Mask

AngelLooka Hand Mask – One thing I’ve always enjoyed about the BB Bag is all the different mask types I’ve been able to try since subscribing. I’d never heard of a hand mask before, but since the weather is cold now it’s a perfect time to use one. I got the warming variety, which really worked. It warmed my hands to a very nice temperature – not too hot, but definitely pretty warm. The warmness lingered after taking the mask off, which I appreciated because I’ve been cold all day. Any dry patches that I had were silky smooth after use.

Ipsy Bag Review – October 2015

My Ipsy bag came super early this month! I didn’t even get my tracking email, but it showed up in my mailbox in its pretty pink envelope as a nice surprise the other day. This month’s theme is “Alter Ego”. I don’t think the products particularly fit the theme this month, but it’s fun nonetheless.

October Ipsy Bag

Dr. Brandt Skincare Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant – Ipsy seems to have this brand frequently, but I have yet to use any of the products. I don’t like to change up my skincare routine too much, so this is probably a no-go for me.

Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance-Free Hand and Body Lotion – I don’t particularly seek out vegan products, but I am always happy to use them. Maybe I should make the switch someday. Anyway, lotion is always needed and appreciated, so I will definitely make use of this.

October Ipsy

The bag design was fun, as usual! I have so many of these bags saved up because they’re too cute to part with, but I don’t know how to utilize them better.

October Ipsy collage

Skone Cosmetics Pretty Eyes Eyeliner in Plum – It’s a pretty color, but it swatched a bit streaky/clumpy, so not totally sold on this.

theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed – The scent threw me off at first (vanilla-mint) but it’s grown on me. I thought this was a lip gloss when I first got it, but (as the name states) it’s a liquid lipstick. The pigmentation is great and I like the matte finish.

DOSE Color Pill Nail Polish in Stormy – I love the color, especially for fall. It’s a gorgeous gray-violet. It’s 5-free, which is always a plus in my book when buying nail polishes. The only negative I have to say that although the bottle is cute (supposed to look like a pill to give a “dose of saturated color”) it doesn’t stand up, which makes it awkward to store and apply.

Beauteque Monthly September 2015 BB Bag Review

The Beauteque Monthly BB Bags were sent out a little later this month, but I received mine on Monday, so review time is finally here!

Beauteque Monthly September

The theme this month is “Soothing Spa”, and it lives up to its name pretty well, as usual.

Beauteque Monthly September Skincare

Aritaum Aloe No Wash Cleansing Water – This product claims to cleanse, remove makeup, and moisturize the skin. It removed my makeup with no problem the other day, so I’ll happily use it as a makeup remover. My skin did not feel particularly moisturized after using it, however.

The Saem Mint Jungle Foot Cream – This product is my new favorite thing, ever. My feet were very tired the other day, and after a nice foot rub from my husband with this cream, they feel SO soft and so much better than they ever have. It has a really light scent, and it’s very moisturizing.

Beauteque Monthly September Mask

Inner Kallia Special Care Modelling Pack in Vitamin – I have not used this yet, but I’m looking forward to it. It starts as a powder and turns into a gel which you can peel off. I’ve only used sheet masks and wash-off masks before, so I’m excited to try this one out.

Beauteque Monthly September Bowl

Modelling Pack Bowl with Stirrer – This product is meant to be used with the mask from above, which is really convenient. This will come in handy, and it’s a lot more adorable than my Tupperware and plastic spoon I’d been using.

Beauteque Monthly September Pigment

Secret Key Secret Kiss Holic Pigment Glitter in Glittering Brown – This eyeshadow is VERY glittery and has the potential to be very messy. A little goes a long way. I have not tried it on my eyes because they’re very sensitive, however just from swatching it, I imagine that there would be fallout, so be careful if you try it!

Beauteque Monthly September Swatch

It is very pigmented and I like the shade, but I will not be using this, unfortunately.

Beauteque Monthly September Cream

Acqua Gems Herbal Soothing Cream – This is supposed to be a multitasking product that will moisturize, repair dry skin, and even soothe burns. I used it on my hands and it is very light and moisturizing, and felt slightly cooling. I’m not a huge fan of the scent – it’s sort of strong and minty/herbal – but it’ll work as a hand cream for me.

Fall 2015 Beauty Wishlist

As I have declared on more than one occasion, I love fall! My house is decorated with fall knick-knacks and harvest goodies, and I am embracing the cooler weather and everything that comes along with fall. Not only do I love to change my decor for the seasons, I also love to change my beauty products. Out go the pastels and light shades and in come rich colors and gorgeous luxe packaging.

I’ve assembled a fall wishlist full of pumpkin scented products, berry lips, and gorgeous palettes.

Ipsy Bag Review – September 2015

It’s time for another Ipsy bag review!

September Ipsy Bag

This month’s theme was Face Fashion, and it came in a very luxe looking gold bag with a fun texture.

September Ipsy Skincare

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – This has a light pleasant scent and the directions say to “apply as needed from head to toe throughout the day”. With the weather getting colder, my hands have been very dry lately, so this is perfect.

Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser – I’ve gotten this in either a Birchbox or Ipsy bag before. I don’t like changing up my skincare routine too much since my skin is pretty sensitive, but I always keep these on hand just in case.

September Ipsy NYX

NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio – If you’ve read my blog before, you know how much I love NYX.

September Ipsy NYX Palette

The sandy color and the brown are shimmery, the black color is matte. The packaging is adorable, as always.

September Ipsy NYX Swatches

I think the colors are pretty, though the black one was a bit streaky and didn’t go on as smoothly as the other two.

September Ipsy Nails

Formula X Nail Color in Ignite – The shade is a deep burgundy and I think it’s perfect for fall. I applied it last night and despite doing a ton of housework and typing, it hasn’t chipped.

September Ipsy Lips

Tre’stique Mini Matte Lip Crayon – Maybe I just got a bad one, but this product did not impress me. It had a very strange taste and scent and it felt really drying. The color, as you can see, is not flattering on me at all.
