Ipsy Bag Review – September 2015

It’s time for another Ipsy bag review!

September Ipsy Bag

This month’s theme was Face Fashion, and it came in a very luxe looking gold bag with a fun texture.

September Ipsy Skincare

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – This has a light pleasant scent and the directions say to “apply as needed from head to toe throughout the day”. With the weather getting colder, my hands have been very dry lately, so this is perfect.

Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser – I’ve gotten this in either a Birchbox or Ipsy bag before. I don’t like changing up my skincare routine too much since my skin is pretty sensitive, but I always keep these on hand just in case.

September Ipsy NYX

NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio – If you’ve read my blog before, you know how much I love NYX.

September Ipsy NYX Palette

The sandy color and the brown are shimmery, the black color is matte. The packaging is adorable, as always.

September Ipsy NYX Swatches

I think the colors are pretty, though the black one was a bit streaky and didn’t go on as smoothly as the other two.

September Ipsy Nails

Formula X Nail Color in Ignite – The shade is a deep burgundy and I think it’s perfect for fall. I applied it last night and despite doing a ton of housework and typing, it hasn’t chipped.

September Ipsy Lips

Tre’stique Mini Matte Lip Crayon – Maybe I just got a bad one, but this product did not impress me. It had a very strange taste and scent and it felt really drying. The color, as you can see, is not flattering on me at all.

Monthly Favorites – August 2015

Another month has flown by, but I don’t even mind this time because it’s getting closer and closer to fall and I am so excited. Fall is my favorite season, and I am so ready to say goodbye to summer and welcome in fall weather, decorations, flavors, and scents. Is anyone else with me?

Anyway, here are my favorites from the past month. This will probably be the last normal post before I dive into everything fall. You’ve been warned. 😉

August 2015 Favorites

Etude House My Castle in Pink Wish – I must admit, I originally purchased this just because the packaging is adorable. This is a hand cream and it smells floral, and actually happens to moisturize well and doesn’t leave my hands greasy.

Paris Is Always a Good Idea Journal – I’m such a sucker for a cute journal (as I know many of you are too) and I really like this one. It has plenty of space to jot down notes and blog ideas, and also has some pages of art and quotes.

Zoya Nail Polish in Anja – I really like this color. It’s a deep reddish purple and the formula is good. I got a trio of Zoya minis (my first time trying the brand) and I am very happy with them.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Spice Cake – I’m pretty sure I feature NYX in almost all of my posts, but I haven’t found a product of theirs that I didn’t love, especially their lip products. The intense butter glosses are long lasting and the colors are really vibrant. Spice Cake is a pretty berry color and I think it’s a great color for a transition into fall.

What items have you been loving lately?

Top 5: Purple Lipsticks

When I’m looking for a more fun lip color, I normally turn to purple. I think it’s a really wearable color, but also a nice change of pace from more muted looks.

Favorite Purple Lipstick

Here are my top five favorite purple lipsticks.

How do you feel about rocking a purple lip?

Top 5: Pink Lipsticks

It’s no surprise that I love lipstick. It’s my favorite type of makeup, and I’ve amassed quite a collection of all the colors of the rainbow. I thought it’d be fun to do a feature sharing my favorite lipsticks in various different colors.

Favorite Pink Lipsticks 2

I decided to go with pinks today, because I wear them most often and I think they’re perfect for all year long.

What’s your go-to lipstick color?

Mini NYX Cosmetics Haul

A new Ulta store recently opened up close-ish to my house, so I very excitedly visited it yesterday. I was in makeup heaven with so many things to look at. They were having a NYX sale and I (with much restraint to not buy everything) picked up a few items.

Mini Nyx Haul

I picked up three lip products and a blush. I haven’t tried any of their eye products, but would love recommendations if anyone has any.

Nyx lip collage

I purchased their High Voltage Lipstick in Sweet 16, which is a really pretty rosy pink color. I love how creamy it is and the color payoff is awesome. I also got two Soft Matte Lip Creams in Monte Carlo (a cranberry red) and Transylvania (a deep violet). I’ve been accumulating quite a collection of their matte lip creams (mostly in pinks) and it was fun to add these two bold shades to my collection.

Nyx blush collage

I also picked up their Baked Blush in Spanish Rose. It’s a very pretty soft pink color with the perfect amount of shimmer.

Do you have any favorite NYX products? Leave your recommendations in the comments, please! 🙂

March 2015 Ipsy Bag Review

I was so excited for this month’s Ipsy bag.  For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a monthly makeup subscription. It sends five samples (and sometimes full size products) all in a really cute makeup bag. If you’re interested, you can use my link to sign up. This month’s theme is “floral fantasy” and I think they did a great job depicting that with the products and bag.

March 2015 Ipsy Bag

The items in this month’s bag were:

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Hunk. I love NYX, I love this shade. I was so excited to receive this as I’ve tried a lot of their lip products, but never a butter lipstick.

VINTAGE by Jessica Liebeskind Illuminating Face Highlighter in Crystal Pink. This is really shimmery and a pretty pink color. I’m very happy to add it to my collection, since I don’t have a lot of highlighters.

Pūr~lisse Beauty Pūr~delicate Gentle Soymilk Cleanser & Makeup Remover. I’ve been a fan of their moisturizers for awhile, so I’m excited to try this product.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up in Medium Shade. Their description says, “Have a Boo-Boo? Skip the bandage and the shiny ointment. Look your best even while you heal with Boo-Boo Cover-Up for face and body. Our innovative formula offers great coverage for skin imperfections while containing ingredients known in nature to promote healing.” Sounds interesting, and the coverage seems to be pretty good.

Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion. I guess I’m not getting any younger, so this is probably a good product to add to my routine. 😉

Mini NYX Cosmetics Haul & Swatches

Only a few stores in my area carry NYX Cosmetics, and the selection is pretty slim. I ordered some things from their website and am really excited to share them with you today!

NYX haul

I got a bunch of lip products to try, and a pretty pastel nail polish.

NYX swatch collage

The left color is NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Playdate. I love purple lipstick. It’s a really fun, but still wearable color. This lipstick is very creamy and I’m very happy with it.

Top right is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp. This is a nice warm-toned pink. I’ve been a fan of their matte lip creams for awhile now, and this is a happy addition to my collection.

Bottom right is NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Napoleon. Is anyone else loving the Intense Butter Glosses? I’m all about a bold lip, so this is a perfect combo for me. Napoleon is just a really pretty pink. The website describes it as “bright tea rose pink”. I think it’s really flattering, and a perfect color for spring.

NYX V'amped up swatches

Excuse my messy swatching, but I’m really excited about this product. I got the V’Amped Up Lip Top Coat. I feel like these pictures don’t do it justice, but it is my new favorite product. It transforms your lip products from regular to vampy. I put it over the High Voltage Lipstick in Playdate and it takes it from lavender to a nice, rich purple color. I was playing with this over all my lipsticks the other day, and it’s so much fun! There wasn’t a color it didn’t look good over.

NYX Pastel mint nail polish

Last but not least is NYX Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in Pastel Mint. I just ordered this about a week ago, but the link to the site says “product not found”. I don’t know if it’s a temporary glitch or if they discontinued the line, but either way, I’m really happy with this product and color. As most of you know, I love pastel shades. I also really like the wide brush. It went on in a few swipes, and I only needed two coats for opacity.
