Tarte – Create Your Own Beauty Kit Review

Two posts in one week? What is this? I just received the “build your own custom beauty kit” from Tarte and I couldn’t resist sharing.

I’m sure many of you took advantage of this great deal, but for one day only you could get¬†7 full-size items of your choice plus a makeup bag and brush for $63! It launched the day before my birthday, so I decided to treat myself ūüėČ

The packaging was super cute. Tons of bright colors and unicorns.

First up is the bag. Pictures do not do it justice. It’s holographic and unicorn-inspired and I love it. If it wouldn’t be weird, I would use this as clutch. It’s SO pretty.

Next up is the¬†Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation in Fair – Light Neutral. To be honest, I think it will be a bit too dark for me. I am super pale, but I’m hoping that I can make it work. The container is gorgeous and I think it’s an interesting idea to have the mesh sifter so that you can just dip your brush in instead of tapping out the powder. It prevents it from going everywhere.

Next is blush. I chose the Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Dollface. This is a shade of blush that I don’t own, so I thought it would be fun to have and the name sounds adorable. It’s really soft and velvety.

I could not resist the packaging of the Limited-edition Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Festival. I was *thisclose* to picking up the bright mint Fairytale shade, but I resisted at the last minute and I’m glad I did. This is the perfect “your lips, but better” shade. I’m really impressed by it. I’ve had it on for hours so far and it does not feel drying and it looks just as good as when I applied it, even though I’ve had things to eat and drink.

I’m less enthused about the eyeliner and mascara¬†only because I have yet to find products that don’t irritate my eyes. I’m going to cautiously give these a try. I picked the Skinny SmolderEYES¬†Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in amethyst and the Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara¬†in black.

Then finally I chose the Timeless Beauty Blush Brush. I really like the floral detailing on it, and it feels really soft.

All in all I’m really happy with this beauty kit. I’m definitely going to keep my eye out for next year’s deal! It was a really nice way to try out a ton of their products for an awesome price.

Did you end up creating your own kit? Which item was your favorite?

Fall 2015 Beauty Wishlist

As I have declared on more than one occasion, I love fall! My house is decorated with fall knick-knacks and harvest goodies, and I am embracing the cooler weather and everything that comes along with fall. Not only do I love to change my decor for the seasons, I also love to change my beauty products. Out go the pastels and light shades and in come rich colors and gorgeous luxe packaging.

I’ve assembled a fall wishlist full of pumpkin scented products, berry lips, and gorgeous palettes.

Mini NYX Cosmetics Haul

A new Ulta store recently opened up close-ish to my house, so I very excitedly visited it yesterday. I was in makeup heaven with so many things to look at. They were having a NYX sale and I (with much restraint to not buy everything) picked up a few items.

Mini Nyx Haul

I picked up three lip products and a blush. I haven’t tried any of their eye products, but would love recommendations if anyone has any.

I purchased their High Voltage Lipstick in Sweet 16, which is a really pretty rosy pink color. I love how creamy it is and the color payoff is awesome. I also got two Soft Matte Lip Creams in Monte Carlo (a cranberry red) and Transylvania (a deep violet). I’ve been accumulating quite a collection of their matte lip creams (mostly in pinks) and it was fun to add these two bold shades to my collection.

I also picked up their Baked Blush in Spanish Rose. It’s a very pretty soft pink color with the perfect amount of shimmer.

Do you have any favorite NYX products? Leave your recommendations in the comments, please! ūüôā

Spring Beauty Wish List

I am such a sucker for packaging that is pleasing to the eye. I know that the quality of the product is more important than how cute the packaging is, but who can resist a great product in attractive packaging? Here are some beauty products that are on my wish list this spring (and they all happy to be pretty cute, too!)

Have you tried any of these products? If so, which is your favorite? If not, which would you love to try?

February 2015 Ipsy Bag Review

I (finally) received my Ipsy bag this month. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a monthly makeup subscription. It sends five samples (and sometimes full size products) all in a really cute makeup bag. If you’re interested, you can use my link to sign up.

February Ipsy Bag

The items in this month’s bag were:

Cargo Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss in¬†Anguilla. This is a really pretty light pink shade. I’m not a huge fan of lip glosses normally, but this one is nice and feels moisturizing and the color is cute.

Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Eyeshadow in Pearl Fizz. I’m pretty sensitive to eye makeup, so I don’t know if I’ll give this one a go, but it’s a really nice shimmery champagne color, perfect for brightening up the eyes.

ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder in Peach Bellini. I’m really happy with this one. I think the color is so nice (a peachy pink) and has a perfect bit of shimmer.

JOYA Composition No. 1 Parfum Oil. I’m normally hesitant to try a new perfume, because I find they can be overpowering sometimes and I’m particular about what I like to wear. This one is really nice, because it’s light and not overpowering at all. They describe it as “fruity, floral, creamy, citrus, a little musk, a lot refreshing” and I’d have to say that I agree.

Luxie Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush 504. Last but not least, my favorite item this month (and I think out of all the months that I’ve subscribed)! I was really excited to find out I was getting this in my bag this month. I’m always on the lookout for new face brushes to try, and really what can be better than a rose gold pink brush? It’s soft, applies makeup nicely, and I think I have found a new brand to be obsessed with.

Here are swatches of the blush, eyeshadow, and lip gloss:
